Spotify and Hulu are now offering a bundle deal for students on that offers access to both services for just $4.99 per month.
Spotify currently offers students access to its premium streaming content for $4.99 per month. The partnership with Hulu adds access to Hulu’s limited advertisement plan at no additional cost to subscribers.
Don’t try to fake a student email address, though. Hulu and Spotify pay for a third party service that helps verify student status.
The two companies said Thursday this is just the start of the partnership and that “offerings targeted at the broader market” will follow. That means consumers should soon be able to pay a single low price for Spotify and Hulu without having to pay for two different subscriptions.
Spotify premium currently starts at $9.99 per month for nonstudents while Hulu with limited commercials costs $7.99 per month. Hulu also offers a plan without commercials for $11.99 and a streaming TV service for $39.99 per month.
Disclosure: CNBC parent company NBCUniversal is an investor in Hulu.
